My daughter who lives in the boonies of Ontario invited a friend to move in with her until the friend got back on her feet. She arrived with her clothes, her car, her few favorite things and her chickens.
My daughter has been thinking for a few years about having Chickens. She is a vegetarian so she thought she might work with a friend who grows chickens, Let the chickens free range her land in the summer ( so she gets the eggs) and when winter came around the owner of the chickens could have them back to butcher.
When Annie arrived with her chickens there was not so much as a batting of an eye. A chicken coop was built on the side of a shed and when Annie stayed over the winter she had an enclosed space made to add on to the Chicken coop that was heated so the water wouldn't freeze and the chickens had a safe place that was warm when they wanted it.
My daughter's cats ignore the chickens but Zuzu looks at them as new toys. The last I heard about Zuzu and the chickens was that Zuzu had been caught carrying them around in her mouth so I believe now when the chickens and Zuzu are both out running around, Zuzu wears a muzzle.
I have posted a lot of Worf the Rooster on Redgage and thought I should share some here on Gather too.
They are such curious birds and entertain us all the time.
If the door was left open she would walk right in the house and make herself at home.

This last photo is one of my favorites. I captioned it -
CAN YOU SEE THE SCULPTURE NOW?
I hope you enjoyed Worf and his ladies. I am looking forward to more photos while visiting in May.
